Stuck in the Middle is the newest project from author and composer, Louis Palena. It will focus on the trials and tribulations of early/mid-teenage life and the issues that middle school kids are facing these days.
The project will incorporate the stories and life experiences of 6th, 7th and 8th graders. In a series of workshops, stories will be compiled through interviews and questionnaires with music to be written to accompany the various stories. Once the workshop is completed, a final draft script will be written and all music will be composed.
With a final script and score in hand, the original children will be reteamed to read through the script and listen to the score.
Auditions for a full scale production of the musical will take place with performances planned for this summer. Additionally, a documentary of the entire process from workshop to production will be filmed. An original cast recording is also planned.
Auditions for the workshops are set for February 21. Workshops will begin on Saturday, February 27 from 3 pm until 6 pm and continue for the next 4 Saturdays at the same time. The cost of the workshop is $125 and includes all additional materials to be determined.
